“What is the next big Interior Design trend for 2019?”
This is a question I have been asked by many clients lately, and my answer is always the same: “Warmth and color!”
In the design world, we’ve enjoyed a long and well-loved season of gray. Now that the sun is setting on that trend, however, I believe that many people will be turning back to warmer tones with injections of COLOR. I don’t see the light, bright, and airy feeling going anywhere for a while, so expect the transition to this trend to be somewhat subtle. Rather than cool grays, I believe we’ll see greiges with warm undertones accented by rich woods and stronger pops of color.
Specifically, I’m predicting that the next home décor style to start trending will be the British West Indies aesthetic. And why not? Distinguished by warm tones, light walls and fabrics, wood floors, and pops of blues and greens, this is a look that’s upscale yet approachable. Tropical plants and coastal fabrics are synonymous with this style, and help give rooms a relaxed, lived-in feeling.

If you are ready to make some changes to your home to add more warmth, consider incorporating warmer-toned furniture pieces, or paint some of your existing pieces a warm, dark color such as Sherwin Williams Black Magic or Black Fox. These are our favorites for achieving a brown/black finish that looks great on furniture.
For the walls inside your home, consider a light but warm tone. Just one word of caution—stay away from shades that are too gold or yellow. Otherwise, you might end up with a color that’s dated and difficult to live with. Here are some paint color suggestions for the walls, also from Sherwin-Williams:
