British West Indies—Palmetto Bluff

before pictures

This home was dark and worn with outdated furnishings, but had gorgeous antique heart pine flooring and some beautiful high-quality area rugs—true diamonds in the rough. While we ultimately kept the rugs (which inspired our color palette for the new decor in each room), many other changes were made throughout the interior of the home. We lightened the wall and trim color, had the kitchen cabinetry repainted in Pure White to match the trim, added color to the walls in the two master suites and the media room, and installed new furnishings and decor throughout.

The British West Indies aesthetic inspired our overall design for this home, which serves as a luxury rental property in the Montage Residence program in Palmetto Bluff. We brought British flair to the Lowcountry by using dark woods, varying shades of white and cream strategically contrasted by strong colors, and decorative accents including chinoiserie pottery and gold toned lighting. To keep this rental home feeling coastal (it is located in Palmetto Bluff, after all!) we also incorporated oyster shell decor and coastal art.

The finished product feels warm, rich, elegant, and inviting. This home is sure to be a favorite of its many guests!
