These Hilton Head Island clients were newly retired and ready to give their Moss Creek home a facelift. They gave Southern Grace Interiors creative liberty to enhance the best features of their home! Existing design elements such as soaring vaulted ceilings, an indoor atrium area, and antique heart pine and brick floors, provided a gorgeous foundation for Lead Designer Brittani Swearingen to work with!
Since these clients love to be outside, Brittani made it her goal to create a relaxed living environment that felt like an extension of the outdoors and took advantage of the home's sweeping marsh views. We began by removing awkwardly-placed beams in the great room and kitchen. Shiplap was added to the great room ceiling, fireplace wall, and kitchen island. The great room also received applied ceiling beams, and a fresh, coastal paint color on the walls. New furnishings and decor finished the look!
We can't take credit for the incredible copper hood in the kitchen, but we did get to select fabulous oil rubbed bronze lighting fixtures to complement it. The kitchen was refreshed with hand glazed tiles as a textural backsplash. It may have initially seemed like a risk to run the gorgeous tiling up the full height of the two main walls in this kitchen, but in the end, it became the secondary focal point for this room. Symmetry was created by adding a cabinet above the refrigerator to continue the line of the windows. We then had all the cabinetry painted to ensure cohesion with the trim and built-ins throughout the rest of the home.
Finally, we helped our clients transform their out-dated master bath into an open, spa-like retreat. Brittani revised the layout, and then worked on the aesthetic. Accent tiles embellished with a leaf motif reinforced the bathroom's scenic views. Classic quartzite in a leathered finish, and new paint and fixtures helped tie the space together.
